Come già anticipato, Columbia Records e Legacy Recordings, divisione di Sony Music Entertainment, annunciano la pubblicazione di Bob Dylan – The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1975 Live Recordings il prossimo 7 giugno.
Una antologia imperdibile che ripropone la prima parte del mitico Rolling Thunder Revue di Bob Dylan: il cofanetto composto da 14 CD include i cinque set completi dei live registrati professionalmente, un posto privilegiato in prima fila alle prove – recentemente ritrovate – che furono realizzate negli studi S.I.R. di New York e al Seacrest Motel di Falmouth (MA), oltre a un disco bonus con esibizioni uniche risalenti a quel periodo.
Partito nell’autunno del 1975, il Rolling Thunder Revue di Bob Dylan rispettava in pieno le convenzioni itineranti dell’epoca coinvolgendo un cast di personaggi eclettici e facendo tappa in luoghi piccoli ed insoliti con ben poco preavviso! Gli spettacoli duravano quasi sempre più di quattro ore e davano vita ad alcune delle esibizioni più intense e dinamiche dell’artista. Dylan portava in scena le canzoni che aveva scritto per il suo nuovo album Desire (che divenne uno dei più acclamati e popolari) con la stessa profondità e lo stesso entusiasmo che aveva raggiunto dieci anni prima con i suoi tour incendiari insieme ai musicisti diventati poi famosi come The Band. Interpretazioni indimenticabili dei suoi brani storici ed alcune cover davvero inaspettate completavano le setlist. Bob aveva chiamato a raccolta per l’occasione vari amici e riunito collaboratori straordinari per il suo ensemble – soprannominato “Guam” per quel tour – che comprendeva T Bone Burnett, Mick Ronson, Joan Baez, Ramblin ‘Jack Elliott, Bobby Neuwirth, Scarlett Rivera, Ronee Blakely, Steven Soles, David Mansfield, Rob Stoner, Howie Wyeth e Luther Rix. Oltre al poeta Allen Ginsberg e Joni Mitchell, che mostravano il loro talento durante i bis. Dylan, leader della band, era riuscito a mettere insieme musicisti provenienti da vari background e sensibilità e li aveva trasformati in un’unica unità musicale sul palco.
La raccolta comprende ben 148 brani, di cui oltre 100 mai pubblicati in precedenza. Incluso nel cofanetto c’è un libretto di 52 pagine con foto rare e mai viste prima dei live ed un saggio del romanziere/musicista Wesley Stace. In concomitanza con l’uscita del cofanetto in CD, verrà ristampata in vinile The Bootleg Series Volume 5, in formato 3LP con booklet di 64 pagine, disponibile per la prima volta dopo la pubblicazione originaria del 2002.
